Stazione Fiorita

We were tasked with creating a structural concept of a pavilion or space using paper to give a sense of seamlessness between ground and built form.

I utilized and toyed with an old method of paper folding that I learned in a ceramics class for simulating the creation of a bowl out of folded clay. I iterated with various angles, positions, and lengths of paper cuts to create a design that elevated towards the sky in stages. The interior portion folded over itself like petals on the inside of a rose, which inspired the flower derivation for the name.

I envisioned it to be a neo-modern train station that serves as a retail and transport hub, with updated amenities that see a great many people circulating through as travelers or purely as patrons, like Central Station in the Milan City Center.
