Lamp Holder
Project Type
Photography
Date
March 2025
This one is pretty self explanatory, but I wanted to utilize a design that I liked to beautify my lamp, secure it, and create a kind of ornamental effect for the desktop. Thus, I carved a Japanese hemp leaf pattern into the face of the holder, which secures the lamp from sliding across the desk and prevents the bulb cover from colliding with the walls.
I had some difficulty with the amount of stringing caused by the filament, despite trying troubleshooting methods like speeding up the print and decreasing the nozzle temperature after 2 previous unsuccessful prints. I tried laying it on its front face for this iteration, but it still required supports, which required lots of effort to remove, causing me to accidentally scrape off a portion of the front face in the process.
I may remake this or take another stab at it in the near future to try and make it cleaner, only upon needing to purchase another filament spool, but as of now it's not an essential task. I've grown to appreciate its imperfections, as it reminds me of how far I've progressed when I compare it to more recent projects.
